half.com vs. amazon for selling books?

January 24th, 2007 at 01:14 pm

It seems that most bloggers have been selling books successfully on half.com. I wonder if anyone has tried both half.com and amazon --or if you've read anything indicating that one site has certain advantages over the other when it comes to selling. Any ideas, folks???

Wondering the same thing myself! I've only used half. So far, so good, but I'm curious about Amazon.

I've only used Amazon and even that's been a while so I'm not sure if what I remember is still correct. I know nothing about half.com and selling. Amazon accepts all payments so I don't have to process anything. They cut a check like every two weeks so if you sell just one book or five you get paid at once. They take out a fee of I think 3% for payment processing. You list for free for like 3 months then it goes away. Hmm that's all I can remember. I really liked listing there I just don't have anything to list anymore.

I just sold a book on Amazon and according to them payment shall be received with in 7 days, however, I listed the book at $50 and their fees were $9.69 for commission and a credit of $3.49 for shipping so I am due a total of $43.80
